Catch-Ups

I'd a few catch-up sessions recently.

They were all fun and special in different ways.

On Fri, I managed 5 rounds of food/drinks, of which J was one of the two bonus rounds. J is one of people who get me. J is amazingly analytical, pragmatic and yet idealistic. We've the same crusading / preachy weakness...it's tied to the commitment to a greater cause. He understood well the DNA fit and the discomfort with having all your flaws celebrated in such situations as well.

There're people whom I had been in the trenches with, and they would always be special...and there's the smaller sub-set within...beyond being fellow survivors by competency and choice, they are also kindred spirits.

I knew if I didn't jump into the sea, I would have followed his path - crossing tt sacred scale by mid 30s, knowing somewhat what's ahead, still learning, still passionate, yet asking what's next. I think there's nothing wrong with that. It's something that each one of us, kindred spirit or soulmate, has to find out on our own. Having some kindred spirits or soulmates around just make the painful yet enjoyable exploratory journey even nicer :)

Ah, one of my fav lines, "Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional"...heh, I can't wait to climb Mt Kinabalu with the girls and chant this for amusement :)
